The Administration Utility is used to manage the StatusView system from a single desktop. Note that some common maintenance operations, like adding and removing users, can be performed from within the main StatusView program.

The Global StatusView Shutdown feature allows an administrator to shutdown and restart all copies of StatusView running on all workstations on the network, without leaving their desk. StatusView can even broadcast a shutdown warning to everyone prior to the shutdown. You don't need to walk from office to office, or broadcast a message on the office paging system.

Note the following on the Configuration tab:

• Licensee name and Product ID information is entered here to install a new license or upgrade an existing one.
• The StatusView Security system protects each user with their own password, and enables messages to be marked as confidential, providing a way to send private communications via StatusView. The Security system supports three User Types to control access to selected operations:
• Administrator - Has full control over the StatusView system, and can change the status and preferences of any user.
• Receptionist - Can change the status of any user, and can change the system message which appears continuously at the top-right corner of the In/Out Board on everyone's desktop.
• Normal - Can only change their own status.

Note: Security features are only available with a registered StatusView license.

• StatusView's Message System can be disabled if you already have an existing email system in place. When the Message System is enabled, the administrator can specify the number of message that each user's Message Box will hold.
• The Clock Sync feature of StatusView can keep the clocks of all PCs set to the same time.
• The Refresh Interval settings give a StatusView administrator the ability to adjust the responsiveness of the StatusView system, and to manage network loads.
